Sintra, Portugal

Sintra, the Moon Hill, is a place full of magic and mystery, where Nature and Man have combined in such a perfect symbiosis that UNESCO has granted it Word Heritage Site status.” – From Visit Portugal

If you’re heading to Portugal for a few weeks or even a few days, a day’s trip to Sintra is definitely worth it. The best way to get to Sintra is to take a train from Rossio Station in Lisbon. Sintra is less than an hour by train from Lisbon. Trains run almost every 10 mins and a train ride works out to about 5 Euro for a return trip.

What You Want To Do And See In Sintra

Sintra is like a fairy tale full of castles. The colourful Pena Palace is a must. It is also the only castle that is in town, which is also where you’ll see the Villa Palace. After which, take a walk through Pena park. From Pena Palace, you’re about a half hour walk away from the Moorish Castle.

If you are keen on staying in a castle instead of a traditional hotel, there is always Convento dos Capuchos, Palacio de Seteis. Or Else, there is the beautiful resort Penha Longa Resort.
